HERE

Today’s the day. It starts with a deep breath, the spark of courage needed to take the first step in the direction of a new journey. Ok, well, took little more than a deep breath to get here.

Here, an adverb, is defined by Merriam-Webster as; 1) in, at, or to this place or position. 2) used when introducing something or someone.

I mean, let’s be real, an automatic physical response is not infused with magic pixie dust manifesting impermeable confidence. More like it quiets the white noise of self-doubt, fear of judgement and the likely possibility of a complete lack of talent, just long enough to believe your point of view is unique. That being said, the fact remains the process of writing is where my voice is strongest. It does not waiver or quiver as it often does during awkward small talk in a social setting while expected to be eloquent and graceful at balancing a plate with a cluster of cheddar cubes on sliding Triscuts. I am not known to be either eloquent or graceful in person. On the page, well, that’s all together different.

Writing is my preferred method of constructing ideas and communicating the impact and impressions of this life. The simple truth is, this is my dream. After 30+ years of cycling back to this passion, it’s time to stop wishing it – actions speak louder than words. Or, this “if not now, when?” adventure will simply go down as my midlife crisis.
Either way, I am going to put this right here.
